چکیده
The impeller blades of ceramic slurry pumps are usually very thick for the purpose prolonging service life. In this paper, numerical simulations and wear test were conducted to investigate influence blade thickness on solid–liquid two-phase flow in a centrifugal pump. was CFD validation. results show that incident angles solid particles increase with increasing thickness, which larger wrap particle trajectories. trajectories offset region collisions between pressure side take place towards exit lead more impacts suction side. good accordance pattern tested impellers, demonstrates method adopted paper is predictable abrasion experimental an alleviates leading edges blades; however, it also aggravates decreases pump performance.

Effect of Impeller Blade Exit Angle on the Performance of Centrifugal Pump
-Changing some geometric characteristic of the impeller in centrifugal pumps improves their performance. It is known that blade exit angle plays very important role in the performance of a centrifugal pump. To investigate effect of blade exit angle on the performance of centrifugal pump by means of experiment is very expensive and lengthy process. Due to expensive and lengthy process, it can be...
متن کاملCFD Predictions of Dense Slurry Flow in Centrifugal Pump Casings
Dense slurry flow through centrifugal pump casing has been modeled using the Eulerian-Eulerian approach with Eulerian multiphase model in FLUENT 6.1. First order upwinding is considered for the discretization of momentum, k and ε terms. SIMPLE algorithm has been applied for dealing with pressurevelocity coupling. A mixture property based k-ε turbulence model has been used for modeling turbulenc...
متن کاملEvaluation of floating impeller phenomena in a gyro centrifugal pump.
The Gyro centrifugal pump, developed as a totally implantable artificial heart, was designed with a free impeller in which the rotational shaft (male bearing) of the impeller was completely separated from the female bearing. For this type of pump, it is very important to keep the proper magnet balance (impeller-magnet and actuator-magnet balance) to prevent thrombus formation or bearing wear. W...
متن کاملNumerical Calculation of the Flow in a Centrifugal Pump Impeller Using Cartesian Grid
The simulation of the three-dimensional turbulent flow in turbomachines is currently based on the solution of the Reynolds Averaged Navier Stokes equations. A considerable computational effort usually goes to the mesh generation process due to the complexity of the impeller geometry. The use of Cartesian grids combined with a numerical technique for solving partially blocked cells is presented ...
متن کاملInvestigation on the Time-Variant Flow in a Single-Blade Centrifugal Pump
Effects of the time-variant flow in a single-blade pump are investigated by numerical and experimental methods. For a numerical approach the three-dimensional, viscous, unsteady flow field in the pump has been achieved by solving the unsteady Navier-Stokes equations (URANS) with a commercial solver. From the obtained periodic flow field the time-variant forces acting at the wetted impeller surf...
